Jane Gerber is Professor of Jewish History and Director of the Institute for Sephardic Studies at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. She is the author of five books including The Jews of Spain, which won the National Jewish Book Award in Sephardic Studies in 1992. She has been a Visiting Professor at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Jewish Theological Seminary.
